Hamirbhai mixes 2.5kg of different herbs: Ardusi, Seetafal, Bel, Arni, Neem and Gandivel Vanaspathi to 200litre water and leaves it for a week for fermentation. Later, the mixture is filtered and additional 15litre of water is added to it before sprinkling it over the harvest. This controls pests like caterpillars. The process should be repeated after a week.

Caterpillars in cotton can be controlled by Calotropis gigantia (HB, 3(3&4):17, 1992), in castor plant by roasted seeds of maize or sorghum (HB, 4(1):12, 1993) and in paddy by neem (HB, 6(3):10, 1995).
